WHAT - 6 weeks till the International tri - sigh. I'm a bit surprised at myself the past couple of weeks, thought that I had done better than what is listed above. So what has happened? I will not dwell I will focus on the future. Yep 6 weeks - I'm excited, funny how my weakness is no longer my weakness and my strength has become my weakness.
Swimming is coming along great. This past week I had some great swim sessions and I swam 2000 yds on Saturday which is over the distance I need to do for the tri. Rob watched me on Saturday and was amazed at my progress. He says I have good form but I need to figure out the bi-lateral breathing. He thinks that will definitely be needed when swimming in a crowd or not so smooth water and he thinks that might improve my speed.
Biking - oh no, those hills are probably going to kill me. I so have not been outside on my bike. I have been attending spin classes pretty regularly and I often spend extra time before or after class but I know from a mileage perspective and a hills perspective I'm not there. So I need to get out on my bike. The good news is there is lot of hills in our new community. The bad news is that I'm not comfortable riding on the main road near us because the speed limit is 60 mph and I see how people drive on that road. We do see lots of cyclists but just not sure if I'm ready for that.
Running is running. I haven't been getting the time or the mileage in so that has to be a focus point for me.
Weight loss - it's been up and down the past couple of weeks but I'm ok with that wanted to hold steady for a bit and focus on other things.
Strength training - that big goose egg has got to change. Now that I've met my first weight loss goal I'm realizing I really need to tone up the muscles. Also the distance swimming is really giving me a sore back, nothing long term just when I start to get up there in distance so I know I need to build up the strength in my back and abs.
Overall still doing well, the sessions above don't reflect that but I mentally I feel that I'm in a solid place for 6 weeks away from my first International distance tri.
Happy training!
