I was very bad this week, I missed 1/2 of my training sessions....but if I'm trying to be optimistic I at least hit all my long sessions!
With 3 weeks I'm not freaking out about that, I knew what I was doing every day I decided not to get out of bed. I know I'm as ready as I will be for this race, I know that I won't be able to run the entire 13.1 miles and I know that my nutrition is much better than what it was.
There are definitely things that worry me - will I make the cut off times, will I finish, will I finish last. I'm fairly confident that I will finish. Swimming in a wetsuit for the first time is a bit scary, but I don't think it will be that big of a difference other than I hope I gain 5 or more minutes. The bike course did not look that bad but I worry about the hill that everyone has talked about and the wind that has been pretty bad the past few years and of course the run worries me if it's not flat and it's hot. But with all that I think I still can finish. I know it will be a long day and I just have to keep pushing through, one event at a time, one mile at a time.
This week I started reading "You are an Ironman", which is about 6 weekend warriors chasing their dreams to finish an Ironman. I could not have picked a better book to start reading before my race. It helps me realize that other people don't hit all their training sessions, have injuries or life interruptions and have fears about all those things impacting their ability to finish the race.
The next 3 weeks, I will hit all my training sessions, I will eat healthy and I will try to maintain positive thoughts about what I plan to do on Sunday, September 28th. Triathlons have always been about me doing something that I want to do for myself and 3 weeks from today I want my body to show my mind that I'm capable of anything!
