Race season sneaking up on me

Hard to believe my first race is less than 5 weeks and sadly this week was the first time I took the new ride outside and oh my so much training is needed.  But the good news is that it's an Olympic distance and I know that I can do the distances and if needed I can do my road bike and even better news is that Kerrville is still about 4 months away.  I've had some good weeks of training but now I need to step it up a notch to insure that I hit all my sessions, put some solid time in the pool and get outside on the bike!!

BTW, the new girl still does not have a name......she has the potential to be scary, although the aero didn't bother me much, she is loose and the gearing is SO very different than my roadie.  So getting time outside with her is very important to the HIM races this year.

Week 1 - C

Week 1 of the New Year and I'll give myself a C-.  No weightloss for the week but I know that is from the evening snacking.  Workout wise I did 1 bike workout, 3 run workouts and 1 strength workout.  I was scheduled to do 3 swim workouts, 3 bike workouts, 3 run workouts and 2 strength. This week I had planned 2 Team Z workouts and missed both of them because of work but there is a Strength and Injury Prevention Clinic tonight that I plan on attending so I figure that is a good way to finish out the week. The focus for week 2 is to limit the evening snacking, complete over 50% of my workouts, especially the swim workouts, and try to make it to at least 1 of the 2 Team Z events. I've posted my tentative race schedule, it's a pretty aggressive plan, considering 2011 was a big goose egg for me.  But I truly want to get back on track with putting myself and my personal goals first this year.  This has always been a difficult task because for all of my 41 y...

75 days - time moves quickly

Had a pretty good training week, we won't talk about the work week 😡 Today I dropped BB (black beauty) off at the bike shop to get a check-up, I'm going to pick her up on Thursday and try for another round of testing out saddles.  I have suffered 2 years with the current saddle and I just need to make some effort to try again.  I know I'm not going to be doing full distance racing after this year but I still want to get a saddle that is more comfortable than what I currently have.  After about 1.5 hours, I'm ready to be done so 6+ hours is difficult. Still moving along with my weight loss, but WAY off target of what I was hoping to be by this time.  I still have time but need to be on target with workouts and eating.  We typically do one splurge meal every week but we have changed it to every other week.  I know many would say if you need to lose the weight then you should remove the splurges all together well that just won't work for me.  If I do...

Break over!

I just realized I haven't posted an update since my race summary.  Sadly I have been a bit unmotivated and have taken a few too many days off.  But since my next race is 7 weeks from today I guess it's time to get my butt back in gear. So starting next week I'll get back on track with posting my training sessions and weight loss.  The good news is my weight is holding steady at my original goal weight.  I do still want to drop another 10 lbs and will get refocused on that.  If I stay focused I think I can be at the 2nd goal weight by the next race and carrying 10 less pounds will make a huge difference. I did have a decent run and a short swim to start off this morning.  Bad news is that my Garmin 405 has finally bit the dust.  I have been having lots of problems with it whenever I actually attempt to use it and go on long runs.  The hubby ok'd this purchase as my birthday gift: http://sites.garmin.com/forerunner910xt/ I"m so excited abo...
