Race schedule still not finalized

I'm registered for 3 of the planned 6 races.  I will wait to register for Rock n Roll till later in the year when I decide if I want to register for 1/2 or full marathon.  The 2 Olympic distance tri's (June and July) that I did last year have not announced dates, sadly it's possible that neither of these races might happen. I read on one of the websites that residents near the Boerne City Lake haven't been happy with the traffic that the races bring to the area.  One of the race directors has submitted an alternate course option but that was in November and they haven't posted any updates.

So I have 2 choices, limit my race schedule to the other 4 or try to find 2 other Olympic distances near by........need to figure that out.  REALLY wanted to go back and race Gatorbait.  This is the race that I got a leg cramp, flat tire and my odometer wasn't working as well it has a huge hill called Heartbreak hill and I didn't make it all the way on the bike.  So I decided to train most of last season in that area because I wanted the challenge of that hill.  So I was really hoping to redeem myself this year.  Just wait and see what happens.

Training this week has gone well.  I only missed one planned swim and I was able to do my entire 70 min bike on Saturday on my new bike (still no name).  Also did my longest run this season outside today, gorgeous weather for a 7 mile run.

I'm really looking forward to the 1/2 marathon, I haven't done any non triathlons in a long time and the Alamo 13.1 has little to no elevation.  Since our community is very hilly I think home is one of  the best places to help prepare me for running this year. Right now I'm still walking up the hills (we have killer hills here) but I know in time that I'll be able to start running up those hills.

Also this week I was dedicated to healthy eating, which resulted in a good weight loss week.  Just need to stay committed to this plan and I know that I'll drop some additional weight quickly.  Still working to get to my ultimate weight goal but know that when I get to 10-15 lbs away from goal it always gets tougher.

A week of crazy but still good miles

Week of 8/27/2012 - 9/2/20212 Exercise Walking - 0 General Walking - 27.95 miles Stationary Bike - 0 Weight loss - ?? I was a bit shocked that when I was finally able to look at my miles that I actually had 27.95 miles.  That is not a great week but considering that since Tuesday, August 28th we have been staying in a hotel and were driving from Maryland to Texas from August 29th - September 1st, I'm pretty happy with that. As I wrote in the last update, I knew it would be tough to get some exercise in last week and it was.  I decided that this was an adventure and a great opportunity to spend time with the hubby and I was going to enjoy our trip and worry about diet and exercise when we got to Texas and got settled in. The only bad thing that happened on our trip is that my fitbit , may be on its last leg.  I dropped the fitbit early last week and cracked the case and when I say cracked I can see the inside of the device.  Then towards the...

Goals

I knew I was goal oriented but didn't know that meant I always had to be living by some sort of plan. Anyone reading sees that I have been off my game and have turned into a big slacker.  This has happened before.  I have lost weight in the past and come close to achieving my goal and then started slacking and end up right back where I started, or worse and then it's an uphill climb.  I'm not disciplined, yet, to live a healthy life without having some sort of goal and plan for achieving that goal. So I have established 2 goals for the remainder of the year: 1.  Get to my goal weight - I achieved my original goal weight but then set a new goal and sadly I have gone over my original goal weight.  So I have 20 lbs to lose! 2.  Figure out my 2014 triathlon schedule - I was so proud of myself for finally completing an Olympic distance triathlon and I have always said that I wanted to go for the further distances.  I have set a goal of December 1 to ...

Making my own decisions

It's now been 6 weeks of steady exercise, including sticking to the routine while on travel to India.  My eating habits have wandered a bit but I know what I need to do. Recently I have decided that I'm going to live the life I want and not what everyone else wants.  All my life I have been ruled by someone else making decisions, telling me what to do or wanting to make the right decisions to please everyone else but not really doing what I want. I realized the 1st time I made a decision / choice for myself  was when I met my now husband and decided to marry him; 22 years later it still is the best decision I made.  He has always supported me; which is something that is unusual for me an it's taken me awhile to realize this.  I've always played life safe rather than risking and following my dreams/desires. Triathlon was my 2nd decision, by me and for me.  I have neglected those desires because of work pressures.  I realize that my current job wil...
