Slow but steady

Week of 9/10/2012 - 9/16/2012

Running - 3 sessions
Biking - 2 sessions
Strength Training - 2 sessions

Not a bad week for me.  I worked out 5 of 7 days and I did the workouts that I had scheduled.  You know the running isn't running it's jogging :>)  The strength training right now is just upper body and some core work, nothing lower body at this stage and very light weights.  Don't want to do anything to aggravate my back.

This week I'll be starting the ChiRunning 8 week to 5K training plan.  This week should not be too bad since my jogging has been similar to what is planned.  I've been trying to find a 5K race to do at the end of my 8 week plan but haven't found anything yet.  I'll keep looking but if I don't find anything maybe I'll just put something together on my own or try for something later in the month.  I'm sure there will be runs around Thanksgiving as there are usually Turkey trots in most cities.

The biking, as was before my back surgery is boring.  I've always hated biking inside. I'm going to look for some trails near by and  maybe try for some rides outside.  That is going to be a great thing about living in Texas, longer outdoor training season.  I want to start out on my mountain bike and get some good time on that before even considering moving to my road bike.  I just want to get my back stronger since the road bike puts me in a different position and puts a bit more stress on my back.

Right now I do not belong to a pool and do not have a pool near by that I can work on swimming.  I could always go to the pool up at the community where we are building our house but that is about a 45 minute drive.  I want to wait to join a gym pending on what job I get, don't want to join something in the opposite direction.  But at least I can bike and run at home, although my swimming is really what needs the most work.

This week I'm going to start tracking my food intake so I can get back on track with my weight loss.  So today was weigh in day and I DID NOT like the number on the scale.  But as I have said before the number on the scale does not define me.  It's a number that will be shrinking.  There is 16 weeks left this year and I would like to be at my goal weight by the end of the year.  It's a very doable goal!

So happy Monday, thank you for reading and I hope you too are making progress with your goals!

A week of crazy but still good miles

Week of 8/27/2012 - 9/2/20212 Exercise Walking - 0 General Walking - 27.95 miles Stationary Bike - 0 Weight loss - ?? I was a bit shocked that when I was finally able to look at my miles that I actually had 27.95 miles.  That is not a great week but considering that since Tuesday, August 28th we have been staying in a hotel and were driving from Maryland to Texas from August 29th - September 1st, I'm pretty happy with that. As I wrote in the last update, I knew it would be tough to get some exercise in last week and it was.  I decided that this was an adventure and a great opportunity to spend time with the hubby and I was going to enjoy our trip and worry about diet and exercise when we got to Texas and got settled in. The only bad thing that happened on our trip is that my fitbit , may be on its last leg.  I dropped the fitbit early last week and cracked the case and when I say cracked I can see the inside of the device.  Then towards the...

Race schedule set

Week of 12/31/2012 - 1/6/2013 Swimming - 2 Biking - 0 Running -2 Strength Training - 1 Weight loss for week - 0 Total weight loss - 27.5 As reported in the last post the past couple of weeks haven't been great workout weeks and no weight loss. But it happens right, no worries.  I'll get it back on track this week.  My back is feeling MUCH better so I'm going to do some strength training tomorrow and clearly I need to get back to biking.  My road bike is set up on the trainer between the living room and kitchen I just need to spend some time on it.  I've been very focused on swimming and running but need to make sure that I'm giving proper attention to the bike.  Plus with my back being sore I didn't want to make even more sore by getting on the bike. Along with this post you will see I have updated my race schedule.  Races fill up quick around here so I built in a back up race in case one of the races is full.  I've also been working on my 2...

Week 6 - thoughts of quitting

1/4/16 - 1/10/16 Swim - 2 Bike - 0 Run - 2 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 22 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2016)   Swim - 3600 yds / 3600 yds miles      Bike - 0 miles / 0 miles   Run -8.21 miles / 8.21 mile s I don't have to clock in at work but this week I tracked my work hours and I worked roughly 68 hours. Today is the only day I have not worked.....yet (my on call coverage doesn't end till 5). I know plenty of people work as many if not more, but it's been rough on me when I'm getting up at 3:45 to get to the gym and still trying to spend time with my hubby and baby girl (our wonderful doggie).  I have been questioning my ability to juggle this job with m training schedule but this week has been the worst....I actually told myself I wanted to quit. Because I have a great hubby, who wants me to succeed in achieving my goals he listened to me cry and vent, he has been listening to me for awhile and as usual he continues to motivate m...
