Wow, it's been 3 weeks since my last update, a bit hard to believe that it's been that long and then when I look at my training schedule and realize I have been slacking for awhile and I have my 1st International distance race in 8 weeks - holy crap!

Guess I need to get my butt in gear.....to my defense I have been a bit busy....no actually I'm not making excuses this time.  Yes we have been moving into our new house the past couple of weeks but I still could have made the time to train and I made a choice not to!

Today I had a friend participate in her first 1/2 Marathon and another friend participate in her first 1/2 Ironman.  Sadly one was successful and the other was not.  I'm so proud to know both of these ladies and each of them have been an inspiration to me.  My friend "J" has never participated in sports and would not call herself an athlete. She had some bumps in the road but she persevered she overcame her doubt and completed her race.  She will participate in a full Marathon in October of this year.  She inspires me to want to push through my lack of motivation and indecision on whether I want to continue to tri.  My other friend "M" conquered weight loss and has been hampered with various injuries, she's had to cancel participating in races because of injuries / illnesses.  Despite a desire to succeed, today was not her day but she lives to race another day.  She too inspires me to push through my lack of motivation and indecision on whether I want to continue to tri and helps me truly believe that success is not only measured by the end product.

My training for about a month wouldn't exactly be called training, more like working out with the thought that I'm racing later.  Well later is 8 weeks away.  Despite my lack of motivation to participate in this race, no matter what - I'm doing this race.  I had to postpone doing an International distance tri a couple times due to injury, I'm not going to do that.  I'm not going to sabotage my efforts.  I'm signed up, I paid my fees and I'm going to do this.  I need to get off my butt, get motivated to do this and stop making excuses.

A week of crazy but still good miles

Week of 8/27/2012 - 9/2/20212 Exercise Walking - 0 General Walking - 27.95 miles Stationary Bike - 0 Weight loss - ?? I was a bit shocked that when I was finally able to look at my miles that I actually had 27.95 miles.  That is not a great week but considering that since Tuesday, August 28th we have been staying in a hotel and were driving from Maryland to Texas from August 29th - September 1st, I'm pretty happy with that. As I wrote in the last update, I knew it would be tough to get some exercise in last week and it was.  I decided that this was an adventure and a great opportunity to spend time with the hubby and I was going to enjoy our trip and worry about diet and exercise when we got to Texas and got settled in. The only bad thing that happened on our trip is that my fitbit , may be on its last leg.  I dropped the fitbit early last week and cracked the case and when I say cracked I can see the inside of the device.  Then towards the...

Goals

I knew I was goal oriented but didn't know that meant I always had to be living by some sort of plan. Anyone reading sees that I have been off my game and have turned into a big slacker.  This has happened before.  I have lost weight in the past and come close to achieving my goal and then started slacking and end up right back where I started, or worse and then it's an uphill climb.  I'm not disciplined, yet, to live a healthy life without having some sort of goal and plan for achieving that goal. So I have established 2 goals for the remainder of the year: 1.  Get to my goal weight - I achieved my original goal weight but then set a new goal and sadly I have gone over my original goal weight.  So I have 20 lbs to lose! 2.  Figure out my 2014 triathlon schedule - I was so proud of myself for finally completing an Olympic distance triathlon and I have always said that I wanted to go for the further distances.  I have set a goal of December 1 to ...

Making my own decisions

It's now been 6 weeks of steady exercise, including sticking to the routine while on travel to India.  My eating habits have wandered a bit but I know what I need to do. Recently I have decided that I'm going to live the life I want and not what everyone else wants.  All my life I have been ruled by someone else making decisions, telling me what to do or wanting to make the right decisions to please everyone else but not really doing what I want. I realized the 1st time I made a decision / choice for myself  was when I met my now husband and decided to marry him; 22 years later it still is the best decision I made.  He has always supported me; which is something that is unusual for me an it's taken me awhile to realize this.  I've always played life safe rather than risking and following my dreams/desires. Triathlon was my 2nd decision, by me and for me.  I have neglected those desires because of work pressures.  I realize that my current job wil...
