Swim - 2 of 3
Bike - 2 of 3
Run - 2 of 3
Strength Training - 0
Weight to lose - 1 lbs
Mileage (weekly / 2017)
  Swim - 4,970 yds / 37,832 yds miles
  Bike - 70 miles / 347.8 miles
  Run - 10.18 miles / 57.87 mile

Rough end to a not so great week.  Training this week was not good, missed too may sessions.  So I thought I would end the week on a better note and I would do a 1/2 Ironman, this would provide me some confidence for IMTX now less than 7 weeks away.   Well didn't end up that way.  I did the 1.2 mile swim and the 56 mile bike but only did a little over 4 miles for the run.  Totally bonked - headache, dizzy.....I have concluded this was due to a number of things.  No dinner night before, poor hydration pre activity, bad breakfast.  I'm really ticked off at myself, I know better.  At first I was upset, worried that this meant that I'm not ready for IMTX, but realistically it means I wasn't properly prepared for today.  I can't let this discourage me, rather I need to learn from my stupidity today.

The good news is after hydrating and eating  I feel pretty good, will probably be a bit sore tomorrow but should be good to go for working out tomorrow.

Promise next week will be better!

  1. See...keeping it in perspective. Proud. It just shows how important hydrating and nourishment are. We know this...but sometimes we need our bodies to remind us.

Making my own decisions

It's now been 6 weeks of steady exercise, including sticking to the routine while on travel to India.  My eating habits have wandered a bit but I know what I need to do. Recently I have decided that I'm going to live the life I want and not what everyone else wants.  All my life I have been ruled by someone else making decisions, telling me what to do or wanting to make the right decisions to please everyone else but not really doing what I want. I realized the 1st time I made a decision / choice for myself  was when I met my now husband and decided to marry him; 22 years later it still is the best decision I made.  He has always supported me; which is something that is unusual for me an it's taken me awhile to realize this.  I've always played life safe rather than risking and following my dreams/desires. Triathlon was my 2nd decision, by me and for me.  I have neglected those desires because of work pressures.  I realize that my current job wil...

2 weeks - WHAT!?!?!

4/3/17 - 4/9/17 Swim - 2 of 3 Bike - 1 of 3 Run - 1 of 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 1.5 lbs  Mileage (weekly / 2017)    Swim - 4,822 yds / 60,300 yds miles    Bike - 16 miles / 491.6 miles    Run - 3.54 miles / 108.1  mile Taper starts next week.   I didn't have a great week, too much personal stuff going on that just consumed my focus and didn't feel motivated!  Lots of emotions and conversations with myself questioning whether I'm ready for this adventure this year - I still don't know the answer to that.  I feel I'm ready for the swim and despite the lack of running this year I feel I have a good plan for the run but the bike for some reason worries me. I haven't gotten as much mileage in as last year but my times are faster than last year.  But this week is important for focus - stay on target, hit my planned workouts, NO distractions and remind myself that I GOT THIS.  I can do this...

Great progress this week

Week of 1/14/2012 - 1/20/2012 Swimming - 2 Biking - 0 Running - 3 Strength Training - 1 Weekly Weight loss - 4 lbs Total weight loss - 31.5 I still have a left over cough from the cold but I was able to get to the gym all 6 days that I had scheduled.  Based on my summary I need to work on a few things, especially biking and strength training.  I did my longest run today, 55 minutes.  I was able to run the entire time at 5 mph or higher.  I want to work on increasing my speed on the shorter runs as my end goal is to run 6 mp for long distances / times. I added another event to my calendar.  Lifetime Fitness is doing an indoor triathlon.  The event will be how far you go within the below times. • 10-minute swim in the lap pool (laps are tracked by volunteers) • 30-minute cycle in the cycle studio (distance measured by computer) • 20-minute run on a treadmill (distance measured by treadmill) Clearly a short event but something fun to do...
