Woohoo swimming

Week of 1/20 - 1/26 Swim - 2 Bike - 1 Run - 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight loss (weekly / year - 0 lbs / 6 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2014) -    Swim - 1000 yds / 1500 yds   Bike - 19 miles / 93.58 miles   Run - 14.26 miles / 47.72 miles Didn't get all the planned swim workouts in but got 2 of them in and while my arm is still sore it was definitely a bit better than last week.  I swam back to back days with no problem.   I'm really glad that I'm tracking mileage this year, it's nice to see those numbers at the end of the week and then for the year.  Considering I haven't started training yet the mileage I'm putting in now is going to seem like nothing by mid year. My run continues to improve, my speed is slowly improving which is good because my distance is increasing. This week was a HORRIBLE week for food.  As much as I enjoyed our company over the past few weeks I'm not very good at staying on track when I'm going out to ea...

Run time improving

Week of 1/13 - 1/19 Swim - 1 Bike - 1 Run - 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight loss (weekly / year - 0 lbs / 6 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2014) -    Swim - 500 yds / 500 yds   Bike - 12 / 74.58   Run - 13.72 / 33.46 This week turned out to be an ok week.  I didn't get all my planned workouts in but I did get all my planned runs in and my run time is starting to improve as my distance gets longer.  I'm now running over 1/3 of what I will need to do for the 1/2 Ironman.  I did get one swim in this week, bit sore but not to the point I couldn't swim. Tomorrow, life will get back to normal as our lasts guests leave so I'll be able to get back on track with food and workouts.  The weather is starting to warm up and I definitely want to get some outdoor runs in. Also got my bike back from her tune-up and she looks beautiful.  Her gears are cleaner than they have been in a long time.  I'll have to do a better job of keeping her clean. ...
Week of 1/6 - 1/12 Swim - 0 Bike - 3 Run - 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight loss (weekly / year - 3.5 lbs / 6 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2014) -    Swim - 0 / 0   Bike - 44.08 / 74.58   Run - 13.27 / 19.74 I've changed the way I'm going to report my stats, last week I just did total mileage but I would like to see what I do for all 3 areas. Good week!  Got most of my workouts in and had a success weight loss week.  I didn't hit the pool at all! I know it's going to hurt and I think the fear that maybe a Dr is needed to look at my shoulder frustrates me.  I still plan to try for a couple of weeks to see how things go before reaching out to a Dr. Got in a run outside as the weather has started to warm up.  We have a great neighborhood for running, very peaceful in the morning with little traffic.  Always nice to see the sun rising and challenge myself to run up the big hills! Still need to work on getting the strength training into my sched...

1st week down only 39 to go

Week of 12/30 - 1/5 Swim - 0 Bike - 1 Run - 3 Strength Training - 0 Weekly weight loss - 2.5 lbs Total weight loss (for year) - 2.5 lbs Mileage - 27.35 miles Good, solid start to the new year. This week I'm heading back to the gym and getting in that pool.  Need to work on that swim.  I've been having lots of issues with my right shoulder again and I'm hoping that some swimming will help.  I plan to give myself a few weeks and see how things go before going to a physical therapist.  I think it's just a bit strained from some over lifting so will ease into the swimming. This year I decided I'm also going to track my mileage, with all the training I'll be doing it will be interesting to see how far I travel. We have visitors coming the next couple of weeks so I'll have to keep an eye on my eating.  The good news is that one my besties will be here for almost a week and we will be working out together and will keep an eye on each others eating!

Happy New Year

2014 is here!!!! I'm ready and raring to start this new year.  Of course I already have my training calendar set up for the new few months.  Along with tracking my workouts I'm also going to track my mileage so I can see how far I traveled during the year! Of course I've already registered for my BIG race of the season and have a few more races on the radar to help me prep for the new year. The past few weeks have been up and down with the holidays and visitors but tomorrow is the day to get back on track with weight loss and workouts / training. Thank you in advance for following me on my biggest fitness journey.  I'll try very hard to actually do weekly posts but will not make any promises. Looking forward to this journey and what I will learn along the way!

Need to get back to the gym

The past 3 weeks I have been very consistent with my workout routine and have worked out at least 4 days a week primarily increasing my running and a bit on the stationary bike.  But I have been working out at home.  We have a great home gym but we don't have an indoor pool.  Every Sunday I prepare for going to the gym on Monday morning but when the alarm goes off I have been shutting it off and rolling over. The good is that I can sleep another hour and still have an hour for a workout before I have to start getting ready; the bad is that I don't have an indoor pool.  I looked at my workout spreadsheet and can't believe I haven't swam since August.  So once again it's Sunday and I've packed for the gym but this time I need to get up.  I have to get back to that pool for many reasons: 1.  I have to swim 1.2 miles next September. 2.  I have to continue to improve my swimming. 3.  It does wonders for my leg. When I had back surgery in 201...

42 Weeks!!

Earlier in the year I set December 1st as the date I would decide if I was going to do a 1/2 Ironman during my 2014 triathlon season........and earlier this week I made my decision and signed up for the Kerrville Half Distance Triathlon , which is the 1/2 Ironman distance - 1.2 mile swim / 56 mile bike / 13.1 mile run.  WOW, did I just say that - YES I DID!  I am excited and scared at the same time.  September 2014 is a long ways away but there is still a lot of work to do in order to be ready for this event. 1.  Select a training plan - I'm going to go with a box training plan from my good friends at School of Tri .  The plan I am going to select is 24 weeks long and will give me access to Krista Schultz an amazing trainer that I know from She Does Tri . 2.  Goal weight - I'm still working on this but I know that training will be much easier if I can get to my goal weight so I would like to achieve this by the end of March 2014. 3.  Stick to my ...
