Week of 9/24/2012 - 9/30/2012
Running/Walking - 4 sessions
Biking - 2 sessions
Strength Training - 2 sessions
Weight loss for week - 2.5 lbs
Total weight loss - 6 lbs
I completed the 2nd week of the ChiRunning program, which was harder than the first week. I also increased the amount of weight I'm lifting. The past couple of days I've been a bit sore and of course that makes me wonder if I'm pushing too much???? I have been trying to read as many forums as possible about returning to working out and particularly running after back surgery. There is so much mixed information and I just don't want to risk re-injury. The good news is I'm not experiencing pain, only sore, which is a sign that you are pushing your muscles, which can be good, I just need to make sure I'm not pushing too much. Rob keeps telling me to listen to my body and I just want to make sure I understand what it's trying to tell me.
I'm considering redoing the 2nd week of the ChiRunning program rather than moving to the 3rd week. That would allow me to further evaluate my body this week to make sure I'm not over doing it.
I'm also contemplating joining a gym so I can start swimming. I think adding that would be a big benefit. Since I'm without a job it's tough to decide because I'm trying to save money rather than spend but I do think overall it will be a benefit. It's always tough to find an affordable gym with a pool but I have some options.
I'm happy with my weight loss so far, just need to keep up that effort. I have set a high goal and it requires me to stay on track the rest of the year with little wiggle room. I also know that the more weight I loss the better that will make my back feel.
I still have the numbness in my foot and leg but some days the foot feels better and I also notice that my limp is not as bad. Last Thursday was 12 weeks since I had surgery, which is hard to believe because of all the changes that have happened in those 12 weeks but I do remember the pain I was in before surgery and I'm definitely feeling better.
I hope everyone is experiencing their own success in what ever changes they are trying to make in their life!!

I like your idea of repeating the 2nd Week...go with what your body tells you. It will make the 3rd week even better. So proud of you!!!
