Week 9 - Nutrition planning starts

1/25/16 - 1/31/16 Swim - 2 Bike - 2 Run - 1 Strength Training - 1 Weight to lose - 23.5 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2016)   Swim - 4000 yds / 15,050 yds miles      Bike - 62 miles / 190 miles   Run -6.18 miles / 37.46 miles Not a bad week, I did get ONE strength training session in so that is an improvement.  But I missed 2 runs, 1 bike and I had weight gain this week - UGH. But I hit my long bike, long run and both swim sessions and did I say ONE strength training!! I also stared nutrition conversations with Coach Krista.  She made it very clear all the training is important but without good nutrition I won't finish.  So I take what she says very serious.  I know I'll have to consume more calories on the bike than I have in the past. This coming week is a recovery week so looking forward to a bit less volume. I'm getting super excited about our trip to Hawaii for in-laws 50 wedding anniversary.  I get to swim in the oce...

Week 8 - Getting stronger

1/18/16 - 1/24/16 Swim - 2 Bike - 2 Run - 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 20 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2016)   Swim - 5200 yds / 11,050 yds miles      Bike - 70 miles / 128 miles   Run -10.98 miles / 31.28 miles I'm 1/3 of the way through my training.....not sure if that is good or bad.  I'm feeling more and more motivated each week but still scary that I'm 16 weeks away from a full Ironman, that just doesn't seem like enough time. The only sessions I didn't hit this week was one bike and the strength training.  I really wanted to hit the strength training last week, thinking I would do it in the evenings when I got home but that didn't happen.  But I'll keep trying. Today I swam 2700 yds straight, pretty happy about that knowing that I still had juice in the tank and for the full would need to swim another 1600 yards.  I have always been slower in the swimming pool than I am in open water, I'm hoping that is because of all the tur...

Week 7 - Solid Week....keep it coming

1/11/16 - 1/17/16 Swim - 2 Bike - 2 Run - 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 22 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2016)   Swim - 2250 yds / 5850 yds miles      Bike - 58miles / 58 miles   Run -12.09 miles / 20.3 miles Solid week of training - I missed one bike and didn't hit any of my strength training but I improved from last week and had a much better outlook on my training. The big difference this week was that I worked hard no putting myself first, I took advantage of days in which I had no major incidents to manage and left on time. I had a couple of late nights that were frustrating but I tried to cope the best I could.  I also have a tendency to not stick to the plan on weekends and I had my longest bike and run scheduled for the week and I NAILED IT!  Super proud of myself! I'm still terrified that Ironman TX is in 17 week but I'm trying to keep the emotions in check and stick to the plan.  My confidence is higher than it was las...

Week 6 - thoughts of quitting

1/4/16 - 1/10/16 Swim - 2 Bike - 0 Run - 2 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 22 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2016)   Swim - 3600 yds / 3600 yds miles      Bike - 0 miles / 0 miles   Run -8.21 miles / 8.21 mile s I don't have to clock in at work but this week I tracked my work hours and I worked roughly 68 hours. Today is the only day I have not worked.....yet (my on call coverage doesn't end till 5). I know plenty of people work as many if not more, but it's been rough on me when I'm getting up at 3:45 to get to the gym and still trying to spend time with my hubby and baby girl (our wonderful doggie).  I have been questioning my ability to juggle this job with m training schedule but this week has been the worst....I actually told myself I wanted to quit. Because I have a great hubby, who wants me to succeed in achieving my goals he listened to me cry and vent, he has been listening to me for awhile and as usual he continues to motivate m...

Week 5 - New Year and time to get serious

12/27/15 - 1/3/16 Swim - 1 Bike - 0 Run - 1 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 22.5 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2015)   Swim - 1200 yds / 71.3 miles      Bike - 0 miles / 1434.1 miles   Run -3.26 miles / 408 mile s This was not a good week for me, can't make an excuse I just did not dedicate myself to this week. The data above is only for training through 2015.  Next weeks post will have data for 2016.  2015 is over and 2016 is here and that means 18 weeks till Ironman Texas. That is not much time so it's time to get down to business. No more excuses, the most important goal for me this year is to complete my first Ironman and that is not going to happen if I don't get dedicated and put in the effort to lead me to the finish line.  The laziness I have had since Kerrville and until now is not going to cut it.  I can't get by with what I have been doing.  I will no longer sacrifice training for work!

Year in review

2015 Data Mileage    Swim - 71.3 miles      Bike - 1434.1 miles   Run -408 miles 2014 Data Mileage    Swim - 62.5 miles      Bike - 1503 miles   Run - 428 miles So I swam more in 2015 but biked and ran less......hmmm.  Will be interesting to see what the numbers look like this year since I'm training for my 1st full. I definitely have been committed to my training the way I should be and I know that the time has to start now, the days are creeping up on me!
