Happy New Year

2014 is here!!!!

I'm ready and raring to start this new year.  Of course I already have my training calendar set up for the new few months.  Along with tracking my workouts I'm also going to track my mileage so I can see how far I traveled during the year!

Of course I've already registered for my BIG race of the season and have a few more races on the radar to help me prep for the new year.

The past few weeks have been up and down with the holidays and visitors but tomorrow is the day to get back on track with weight loss and workouts / training.

Thank you in advance for following me on my biggest fitness journey.  I'll try very hard to actually do weekly posts but will not make any promises.

Looking forward to this journey and what I will learn along the way!

2 weeks - WHAT!?!?!

4/3/17 - 4/9/17 Swim - 2 of 3 Bike - 1 of 3 Run - 1 of 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 1.5 lbs  Mileage (weekly / 2017)    Swim - 4,822 yds / 60,300 yds miles    Bike - 16 miles / 491.6 miles    Run - 3.54 miles / 108.1  mile Taper starts next week.   I didn't have a great week, too much personal stuff going on that just consumed my focus and didn't feel motivated!  Lots of emotions and conversations with myself questioning whether I'm ready for this adventure this year - I still don't know the answer to that.  I feel I'm ready for the swim and despite the lack of running this year I feel I have a good plan for the run but the bike for some reason worries me. I haven't gotten as much mileage in as last year but my times are faster than last year.  But this week is important for focus - stay on target, hit my planned workouts, NO distractions and remind myself that I GOT THIS.  I can do this...

Making my own decisions

It's now been 6 weeks of steady exercise, including sticking to the routine while on travel to India.  My eating habits have wandered a bit but I know what I need to do. Recently I have decided that I'm going to live the life I want and not what everyone else wants.  All my life I have been ruled by someone else making decisions, telling me what to do or wanting to make the right decisions to please everyone else but not really doing what I want. I realized the 1st time I made a decision / choice for myself  was when I met my now husband and decided to marry him; 22 years later it still is the best decision I made.  He has always supported me; which is something that is unusual for me an it's taken me awhile to realize this.  I've always played life safe rather than risking and following my dreams/desires. Triathlon was my 2nd decision, by me and for me.  I have neglected those desires because of work pressures.  I realize that my current job wil...

Week 19 - 5 weeks - Pit Crew Shirts arrived

4/4/16 - 4/10/16 Swim - 2 Bike - 2 Run - 1 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 20 lbs Mileage (weekly / 2016)   Swim - 5200 yds / 56,450 yds miles      Bike - 59.7 miles / 615.1 miles   Run - 11.1 miles / 122.06 miles This wasn't a great week but it wasn't a bad week. Still struggling with the pain in my right pinky toe so it's making training a bit rough.  I also continue to have issues with my bike shorts/seat.  I won't get detailed here but lets say I have yet to find a pair of shorts that work for me or I guess a saddle that works for me.  I thought my shorts were too big, but that hasn't done the trick.  I don't have other options as it relates to a saddle so don't know where to go from here.  But I'm at the stage where I know physically I can ride 5-6 hrs, I will just need to get out of the saddle to ease the pain a bit.   I may reach out to the bike store but most bike stores are staffed with men and the...
