Best workout week in awhile

2/3/14 - 2/9/14

Swim - 3
Bike - 3
Run - 3
Strength Training - 2
Weight loss (weekly / year - 0 lbs / 6 lbs
Mileage (weekly / 2014) -
  Swim - 1800 yds / 3300 yds
  Bike - 53 miles / 161.58 miles
  Run - 14.08 miles / 74.26 miles

I worked out on all my scheduled days and only missed one workout - strength training yesterday and that was only because I was a bit sore from the previous strength training.

I had a good week in the pool - no soreness in my right shoulder!  Now I need to work up the courage to get back in the lap pool but it's always so COLD!  I know I have been swimming more than what I have been estimating because the length of the pool is not a standard 25/50 yd/ meter pool.  But the water in there is so much warmer than they keep the lap pool.  But I also know that I need to focus on time and distance so I'll try very hard to suck it up and get back in that lap pool at least once this week.

My biking continues to be indoor at spin class - it's definitely been too COLD to get outside and consider biking.  I'm a fair weather girl and 20-50 degree biking is NOT my idea of fun or training.  This coming week the spin class is offering the option to do 90 min which I'm going to try doing - it means getting up around 345 AM to get to the gym by 5 but I think it will be worth it.

I finished my 10K training and now I'm starting on the 1/2 marathon training so my time and distance will drop down a bit for the next couple weeks.  I did the 6 mile run yesterday on the treadmill because I needed to workout before the sun came up but I'm still hoping for the warmer weather so I can get outside more!  The last mile was tough and had to talk my way through it but I wasn't about to be that close without finishing it.  I have been averaging a 12 min / mile and want to get that down as well but I'm also happy that I can maintain the pace as the distance increases.

I continue to be so VERY happy that I started tracking my mileage.  I'm barely into my 2nd month and already racking up the miles - LOVE seeing that.

Still working on getting back to the weight I lost at the beginning of the month - hoping this week I'll have a loss!  This week I'll be increasing my swim distances - still can't believe how much I love being in the pool.  The water is so soothing early in the morning and I think about NOTHING but my stroke and breathing.  It's nice to be able to detach from life!

I'm about 9 weeks away from officially starting 1/2 IM training - so I want to ensure that I get some good base training in before that starts.  The minimum requirements to start that training are:  swim 500 yds continuously, bike 1.5 hrs continuously and run 45 min continuously - all of which I can do - YIPPEE!

A week of crazy but still good miles

Week of 8/27/2012 - 9/2/20212 Exercise Walking - 0 General Walking - 27.95 miles Stationary Bike - 0 Weight loss - ?? I was a bit shocked that when I was finally able to look at my miles that I actually had 27.95 miles.  That is not a great week but considering that since Tuesday, August 28th we have been staying in a hotel and were driving from Maryland to Texas from August 29th - September 1st, I'm pretty happy with that. As I wrote in the last update, I knew it would be tough to get some exercise in last week and it was.  I decided that this was an adventure and a great opportunity to spend time with the hubby and I was going to enjoy our trip and worry about diet and exercise when we got to Texas and got settled in. The only bad thing that happened on our trip is that my fitbit , may be on its last leg.  I dropped the fitbit early last week and cracked the case and when I say cracked I can see the inside of the device.  Then towards the...

Goals

I knew I was goal oriented but didn't know that meant I always had to be living by some sort of plan. Anyone reading sees that I have been off my game and have turned into a big slacker.  This has happened before.  I have lost weight in the past and come close to achieving my goal and then started slacking and end up right back where I started, or worse and then it's an uphill climb.  I'm not disciplined, yet, to live a healthy life without having some sort of goal and plan for achieving that goal. So I have established 2 goals for the remainder of the year: 1.  Get to my goal weight - I achieved my original goal weight but then set a new goal and sadly I have gone over my original goal weight.  So I have 20 lbs to lose! 2.  Figure out my 2014 triathlon schedule - I was so proud of myself for finally completing an Olympic distance triathlon and I have always said that I wanted to go for the further distances.  I have set a goal of December 1 to ...

Making my own decisions

It's now been 6 weeks of steady exercise, including sticking to the routine while on travel to India.  My eating habits have wandered a bit but I know what I need to do. Recently I have decided that I'm going to live the life I want and not what everyone else wants.  All my life I have been ruled by someone else making decisions, telling me what to do or wanting to make the right decisions to please everyone else but not really doing what I want. I realized the 1st time I made a decision / choice for myself  was when I met my now husband and decided to marry him; 22 years later it still is the best decision I made.  He has always supported me; which is something that is unusual for me an it's taken me awhile to realize this.  I've always played life safe rather than risking and following my dreams/desires. Triathlon was my 2nd decision, by me and for me.  I have neglected those desires because of work pressures.  I realize that my current job wil...
