Happy New Year

Where did 2011 go????  Well no looking back, 2012 started today, yes I know I'm a day late but my weeks start on Monday's so today was my beginning :>)  Hope everyone had a safe holiday season and are excited to get in gear for 2012, I know I am.

I'm still working on finalizing my race schedule for 2012.  I was originally hoping to do a 1/2 marathon or 2 this year but in being realistic at where my current fitness level is (low) and what my main goals are for the year (International distance triathlon and getting to goal weight/racing weight) I'm going to rethink some races and narrow it down.

I know that getting back to a healthy weight and a regular exercise plan will help me balance some of the other crazy out of control things in my life.

As my 1st workout of 2012 I'm trying out Chi Running, I haven't been able to get in a good running rhythm so I'm stepping back a bit.  I'm starting out at ground zero and doing the Injury Free 5K plan and from there hope to move on to the 10K plan and then hopefully the Half Marathon plan.  My run has never been the prettiest and has always been sllllllooooowwwww so I'm hoping this will help build my form and speed.

Making my own decisions

It's now been 6 weeks of steady exercise, including sticking to the routine while on travel to India.  My eating habits have wandered a bit but I know what I need to do. Recently I have decided that I'm going to live the life I want and not what everyone else wants.  All my life I have been ruled by someone else making decisions, telling me what to do or wanting to make the right decisions to please everyone else but not really doing what I want. I realized the 1st time I made a decision / choice for myself  was when I met my now husband and decided to marry him; 22 years later it still is the best decision I made.  He has always supported me; which is something that is unusual for me an it's taken me awhile to realize this.  I've always played life safe rather than risking and following my dreams/desires. Triathlon was my 2nd decision, by me and for me.  I have neglected those desires because of work pressures.  I realize that my current job wil...

2019...not starting off perfect

But does anything ever start out and finish perfect? I caught the hubby's cold, thought I battled it well but I was wrong and it took me down on New Years day but that was a rest day so no worries. Got up Wednesday, ready to start my new workout routine....wrong, felt worse than day before, so off to Urgent Care, got some drugs and fighting this. Decided to move workouts back by a day and cancel Sunday as a day off, besides I took New Years day off, as planned. Had a good workout today, still sticking to my running, biking, HITT plan but added strength training in starting today.  My bike wasn't as long as I wanted it to be but doing something is what I take as a positive. I decided my goals/objectives for 2019 are simple: Live a healthier life! There is a lot of things behind that statement, I recently posted the below on FB and I want to ensure that every day, week, month and year I'm striving to improve my life - mentally, physical, relationships, etc. ...

4 WEEKS!

3/20/17 - 3/26/17 Swim - 0 of 3 Bike - 1 of 3 Run - 3 of 3 Strength Training - 0 Weight to lose - 0 lbs  Mileage (weekly / 2017)    Swim - 6,477 yds / 49,987 yds miles    Bike - 28.8 miles / 426.2 miles    Run - 16.87 miles / 96.3  mile Wow - thought I did better -guess not.  No swimming this week and I wish I could say my shoulder feels better but NOT.  Despite not hitting on my training sessions I feel those that I did were on point! Today was the last splurge weekend and the hubby is planning to stick with me, which I really appreciate.  It makes it easier when dining out.  I'm disappointed that I didn't drop any weight this week because overall I had a good nutrition week but that could be related to less activity.  I still have several pounds I want to lose before race day so no splurges for the next 4 weeks hopefully will help with that. My nutrition plan is going very well - except I forgot how qui...
